Hi I thought I would help out the welcome thread & tell a lil about myself & the name I use online.
The screen name I use Colt Walker.
Came about from me being a Texas historian and a big fan of the Texas Rangers.
The name I use now "Colt Walker" was the name of the pistol issued to the Mounted Texas Rangers during the Mexican/American war in 1847. It was the first revolving 6 shooter. It fired a 44 cal. ball and weighed approximately 5 pounds and was prone to misfires and cylinder explosions due to the large amount of powder that was used in it.
It was designed in cooperation with Samuel Colt of Colt Firearms and Samuel H.Walker of the Texas Rangers. Hence the name Colt Walker for the firearm.
Each Texas Ranger was issued a brace (meaning 2) Colt Walkers. They also carried 2 single shot pistols and a rifle or shot gun. The Texas Rangers were greatly feared by the Mexican Army. The Mexican army's single weapon was no match for the Texas Rangers weapons that was capable of unleashing 15 rounds in short order.
Today, the Colt Walker is one of the rarest and most sought after collectable fire arms. Prices range as high as $1,000,000.00 for an authentic Colt Walker, of which only 2000 were made.
So beware, you never know when I might whoop out my trusty ol' Colt Walker and give out a hearty Texas yell..."Remember the Alamo!"
Best regards Y'all from Deep in the Heart of Texas
